In support of your Timeline/Map assignment, we have created tutorials for the tools and they are located under technology.

    • January 26: Chapter 5 (pp.102-132) from Licht (access here) AND the Introduction and Chapter 1 of  the Hays text.

Assignments due:

Blog post – Archival research reports: Due Jan. 28. Write a blog post that discusses your archival research. Include your challenges, opportunities we well as the interesting materials and local history stories that you have found.

Short class presentation – Archival research reports: Due Jan. 28. In-class presentation on Thursday regarding your archival research thus far. This is an opportunity for you to have a conversation with your classmates about your research challenges, opportunities, and the interesting materials/local history you have uncovered.

Week 2 at a glance:

We are quickly moving into the thick of this course and we will cover critical content in week 2. You also have two assignments due in week 2.

Tuesday, January 19:

  • Topic: Digital history projects overview. We will discuss our digital history projects and digital project contracts. We will also have a more general discussion on digital history initiatives.
  • Due by 2pm EST on 1/19: Blog post. See the Course Assignments page for details. You will need to answer all questions fully.

Thursday, January 21:

  • Topic: Digitization 101. This critical session will cover the basics of digitization.
  • Due by 2pm EST on 1/21: Mini-Assignment – Omeka activity. See the Course Assignments page for details.

Week 1 at a glance:

  • Tuesday topic: Syllabus review & class technology. Digital humanities, digital liberal arts, digital history and public history: An overview.
